{"id":2719,"date":"2018-01-05T10:33:03","date_gmt":"2018-01-05T10:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tomdenton.org\/blog\/?p=2719"},"modified":"2018-01-05T10:43:38","modified_gmt":"2018-01-05T10:43:38","slug":"obd-provision-and-data-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tomdenton.org\/blog\/?p=2719","title":{"rendered":"OBD provision and data access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The IAAF and FIGIEFA have welcomed news that crucial provisions on the [amazon_textlink asin=&#8217;0415725763&#8242; text=&#8217;OBD connector &#8216; template=&#8217;ProductLink&#8217; store=&#8217;automotivetechno&#8217; marketplace=&#8217;UK&#8217; link_id=&#8217;41240fc8-f205-11e7-87fd-13a73bdb3c8e&#8217;]and access to RMI [<span class=\"st\">repair and maintenance information<\/span>] have been included in the proposed EU legislation on Vehicle Type-Approval regulation.<\/p>\n<p>The EU Council&#8217;s main preparatory body, COREPER, recognised the need for the aftermarket to maintain access to diagnostic and RMI-related data. It also clarified that access will be granted while the vehicle is in motion.<\/p>\n<p>The new legislation intends to clarify that RMI and spare parts identification information shall also be provided in a machine readable and electronically processable structure.
